Actress and pop singer Brie Larson was born on October 1, 1989 in Sacramento, California. Deciding to pursue an acting career at a young age, she became one of the youngest students at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Her family moved to Los Angeles when she was nine years old, and proceeded to make occasional television appearances, notably in sketches for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Brie’s early career was marked with setbacks. She took a role in a television series, Schimmel, in 2000; however, production was put on hold after the lead actor, Robert Schimmel, was diagnosed with cancer. It was eventually cancelled without going on air. The following year, she successfully took a role in the sitcom Raising Dad, appearing as the youngest daughter to widower Matt Stewart (Bob Saget); however, it was cancelled after 22 episodes. She was also part of the initial cast for the comedy Hope & Faith, but was dropped before it eventually made the airwaves; her character would later be taken on by Nicole Paggi and Megan Fox.

Larson reappeared on the silver screen, taking on roles in 13 Going on 30, Hoot and Sleepover, as well as voiceover duties for Farce of the Penguins. She also took a role in the Disney Channel original movie Right on Track, which aired in 2003. Her most recent projects include the Danny DeVito starrer No Place Like Home, and the comedy series The United States of Tara, where she plays the older daughter of Toni Collette’s character.

Larson gained some degree of success in the music scene as well. She signed on to Casablanca Records in 2003 and released her first single, “She Said”, a year later. That song peaked at #33 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was cited as the 99th best-selling record of 2005. However, her debut album, Finally Out of P.E., was continually delayed, eventually hitting stores in October 2005. Despite extensive touring, including being the front act for Jesse McCartney, the record sold poorly. She is still at work on her music, and last said she will release a five-track EP in 2008.
